Profile of Principal Consultant

Tan Huat Chye (Malaysia)

Tan Huat Chye is currently the Partner and Principal Consultant for THC Consulting Sdn. Bhd. He had been in Human Capital operations and consulting for the last 20 years, specializing in Competency-based Human Capital strategies.

Prior to this, Huat Chye worked in the Sunway Group, a large local conglomerate as a General Manager of Organisational Development (OD). In Sunway, Huat Chye strategized and implemented various Group-wide OD initiatives such as the roll-out of Talent Management, Leadership Development and Succession Planning initiatives. Before Sunway, he worked as Senior Vice-President of Human Resources in Great Eastern Life Malaysia. Apart from normal HR operations, he worked closely with the Singapore Head Office in charting out the HR roadmap for Great Eastern in-road to Chongqing, China.

In the field of consulting, Huat Chye had previously worked as a Senior Consultant for Hay Group, a leading US global Human Resources Consulting firm. In his consulting role, Huat Chye has been involved in projects to review, design and implement Human Resources systems and processes to enhance organizational performance and effectiveness. Other areas that he specialises in are Compensation and Reward Management, Performance Management, Competency Modelling, Leadership Development and Executive Coaching. He has travelled extensively within the Asia region in managing and implementing various Human Resources projects for both local and multinational companies.

He is also trained and certified in various tools and programs such as 6 Seconds EQ Program, Firo-B, MBTI, Focus-Behavioural Interview (FBI), Job Analysis, Job Evaluation and the Leadership Awakening Program (LEAP). Huat Chye is also a member of the Music Authors’ Copyright Protection Bhd (MACP) and an accomplished song writer with many commercial pop songs to his credits.

Khoo Nee Wern (Malaysia)

Khoo Nee Wern is currently the Senior Consultant for THC Consulting Sdn. Bhd.

In THC Consulting, Nee Wern manages various Human Capital projects in the field of Performance Management, 360 Leadership Assessments, Rewards Infrastructure Development, and Strategic Management. In the area of Training and Development, he specialises in Leadership Development, EQ Development, Effective Communication, Organisational Teaming, and Personal Effectiveness. As a professional consultant who has worked before in the General Insurance Industry, Nee Wern brings with him his wealth of experience and knowledge especially in the area of client engagement.

Prior to this, Nee Wern worked as an insurance broker, specialising in liabilities and special projects, particularly in the field of oil and gas. As the broking manager, he engages people in the implementation of policies and procedures, and in managing the change process. He has managed a team of executive brokers, serving the insurance needs of various local and multinational clients. Among his key accounts that he has provided risk and insurance consulting services are Bumi Armada Berhad, Technip Geoproduction Sdn Bhd and Allied Marine and Equipment Sdn Bhd.

Outside the professional work, he is Past President of a Toastmasters Club, where he is instrumental in building the Club membership, organising leadership and communication development programs, and leading a team of high-profile individuals to achieve the coveted President’s Distinguished Club Award.

In the field of consulting, Nee Wern manages the projects including helping clients implement Human Capital systems and processes to enhance organisational performance and effectiveness. He specialises in Performance Management, Leadership Development, EQ Development and Effective Communication. Low Mi Yen (Associate)


Mi Yen is a Resource Consultant for THC Consulting specializing in change and transition management, and employee wellness.

Mi Yen began her work in the area of counselling in 1994 when she joined Federation of Family Planning Associations of Malaysia (FFPAM) as their Youth Program Officer. After she has obtained her Masters in Clinical Psychology, she worked as a clinical psychologist at Malaysia Mental Health Association (MMHA). Her work at FFPAM and MMHA ranged from providing counselling to individual, family and specific group, to conducting training and other rehabilitative programs targeting the larger community.

Later, her work evolved into providing strategic consultation, problem identification and solution management to individual employee and the organization when she joined Motorola Malaysia in 1999 as their Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Manager. Her task was to set-up the EAP operation there which was the first of its kind, developed for any multinational or local Malaysian companies. As an EAP Manager, she has worked closely with business managers and Human Resources staff of different business units within Motorola Corporation to support various business situations such as Change and Transition Management during organizational changes; Crisis Support during and post crisis and various Wellness Initiatives (i.e. Stress Management and other Mental Health related trainings and others).

In 2002, she was promoted to the position of EAP Regional Manager covering all Motorola sites in Asia Pacific. She has also partnered with the Motorola Asia Pacific Benefit Service Center to design and develop a Mental Health Insurance Coverage Plan which was incorporated into the Motorola Health Insurance Plan for all employees. She also led the setting-up of the mental health provider network for Motorola in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and China and through this involvement it has helped her in establishing good networking and relationship with many mental health professionals in this region. In late 2004, she left her EAP work.

Tee Chi Juan (CJ) is a Resource Consultant for THC Consulting with specialization in Human Resource Management.

She possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (majoring in HR), and has more than 15 years of working experience as HR professional in local conglomerate and multi-national environment. Prior to HR Consulting, her last position was Zone HR Director for South East Asia and Pacific Region in a MNC environment.

Her experiences in HR including Strategic HR Management, Organization Development, Manpower Planning and Recruitment, Performance Management, Competency Management, Training and Development, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits Management, Employee Engagement, Employee Mobility, HR Policies and Processes, HR Budgeting and Control, Regional Merger and Acquisition. CJ also has the exposure working in different industries, Trading, Property Development and Investment, Consulting, Manufacturing and Services.

CJ is trained and experienced in leadership, change management, coaching, business continuity planning, and Harrison Assessments (Accredited).

Poh Wee Fah

Wee Fah, is an Associate Consultant for THC Consultant Sdn Bhd. In THC Consulting, he has involved in various Human Capital projects, such as implementation of Performance Management System (PMS) and Rewards Infrastructure Development. Others project are Strategic Management, 360 Leadership Assessment, Job Analysis and Job Evaluation. Some of the clients that he had worked with are Daikin Group, Berjaya Group, AXA Affin, Elken, Lufter Sdn Bhd, REDtone, Nexus Wise, MRT Corporation, and Ann Joo Resources.

Wee Fah has extensive working experience in the banking industry, with heavy involvement in HQ and Branch operations as well as strategic re-organisation and management. He has exposure in the various banking functions ranges from corporate funding to crisis management and loan recovery. He had been deeply involved in bank restructuring work, particularly in the setting up of hub centres as part of bank centralisation move. Wee Fah has on-the-ground experience in the re-alignment of personnel and human capital functions (including manpower planning, standardisation of HR processes and policies, etc.)

Wee Fah brings with him on-the-ground line experience, and combined with consulting experience, makes him a valuable member of the THC Consulting team. He is involved in the designing of human capital interventions as well as their implementation. In the area of learning and development, he facilitates various leadership and EQ programs for companies.

Wee Fah graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia with a degree in Business Administration. He is trained in the area of business management, human resource management, leadership, general management. Aside from professional work, he is also involved community work, training people from all walks of life in the art of effective public speaking.
